Galle Dutch Fort is located in the southern part of Sri Lanka. It is a place for to visit and watch the early European buildings. Also available are sea bath, wandering around the narrow roads, dining fresh seafood and a good place for shopping. Galle Fort area is special for Sri Lanka Natural Gem Stones. You won't see as much as tourist like here in any part of Sri Lanka. Rent a bicycle or scooter to round through the fort shopping area and the outer lanes. If you don't have anything to do here, take a walk to the Galle main city and have a look around there to see fascinating large shops and stalls. Galle Fort area is normally filled with bright sun light and fresh air except for the rainy season. Galle Fort was first built by the Portuguese in the year 1588 and later it was extensively fortified by the Dutch Government during its rule in the 1600s in former Ceylon.
Marvelous Churches, Hospital and other buildings that still remains you of the ancient European Architecture. The arches at each of the buildings, upstairs building with balconies, their verandahs and the specially built green terrace squares will remind you of its ancient marvel. Stone paved narrow roads are filled with small restaurants, bars, coffee shops, spa and souvenir shops will surely attract you venture in to them. No noise pollution that is the best thing inside of this Fort area, if you don't mind the blowing sea wind over you.
You can make your own tour, if you have the map of the fort. Any how you can find local tour guides who are ready to walk with you or to take you on a Jeep tour for a whole day. Lot of tourists used to depend on their Smartphone to go around walking in this area. There used to be Police officers patrolling in this are whom used to walk around or go on cycling to give you peace of mind.
