Sri Lanka beaches offers you beautiful location with golden sand and with silver sands. Most of the beaches are isolated ones except for some popular beaches. Local people don't like the sun shine at the beach sides as it can turn their skin color in to brown or copper color. Sri Lanka people like to have skin color as European's one. So they spend lot of money on whitening creams and avoid sun bath and wandering at the sea shore in the day time. Most of them prefer to be there in the evenings and that is too to get some fresh air with their families. Here they can rest on beach chairs or beach folding beds and enjoys their drink under the beach umbrellas. Whenever you lift up your hand the waiter will come next to you to serve with whatever you want. You can go on swimming in the deep sea as there is no Shark attack, oil floating water or contaminated sea water in Sri Lanka. Early morning or in the evenings you can go on walking or can take jogging along the beaches. At the beach front Jetty in the mornings you can find fishermen bringing their freshly cached fishes. Bargain with them to get good ones for to make BBQ or soup at your hotel. All the popular beach fronts in Sri Lanka have lifeguards stationed in the watch towers to support beach goers. Likewise there used to be flags hoisted on the beaches depending on the climate as red, yellow and green.

Some of the beaches are with roaring waves of the Indian Ocean while some offer calm water front in the lagoon areas. Sri Lanka got some famous surfing spots that are adored by surfers all over the world who used to visit annually for the surfing events. Arugambay is one of it with lot of waves and turns with fantastic beach front. Many people like to ride horses on the shores, while some take on motorcycle and ATV riding by the beach and inside the sea water. There are lots of coral reefs in the South and East seas you can visit over there by boats and in some place you can swim and reach them.

Mirissa is the most popular beach in Sri Lanka with the visiting Tourists. They used to take train from Kandy and pass the Ella tourist destination and come directly to the Mirissa beach in groups to enjoy yhr beach. Mirissa offers everything a foreign Tourist is looking for. Other popular beaches are Unawatuna, Bentota, Dickwella, Weligama, Galle, Induruwa, Hikkaduwa, Koggala, Negombo, Uppuveli, Polhena, Mount Lavinia, Kalpitiya, Pasakudah, Kalkudah, Nilaveli, Pottuvil and Casuarina Beach.

Some popular beach fronts used to have tree shades, beach chairs, benches and hotel staffs are readily available to offer you with fresh coconut drinks, cocktails, American Brand soft drinks or the drink that you wish to have. Many places offer facilities to make your BBQ party with your friends with freshly cached sea food and with fresh meat products. Meanwhile there are many street food vendors all over Sri Lanka. There are Yoga Studios next to the beaches where you can practice Yoga in the morning and in the evening under a local Yoga Guru.

On the other hand there is lots of sea, and beach sports activities where you can go on surfing, kite surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, boating, gliding, deep sea fishing, sailing and can have many more activities.
